Official says Angola offers UralChem to build fertilizer plant

MOSCOW, Mar 26 (PRIME) -- Angola has suggested Russian fertilizer maker UralChem build a plant, Chairman of the Board of Directors Dmitry Mazepin told channel Rossiya 24 in an interview broadcast on Tuesday.

“Quite an unexpected proposal has been expressed by the president and the agriculture minister (of Angola) -- to think about construction of a plant producing carbamide and ammonia,” Mazepin said.

“We will consider this proposal closely and if we see that the proposal is interesting, we will work on the issue of how we can do this, attracting African, international or Russian banks.”

The required investments in the plant can make U.S. $600–700 million, and output can amount to 1.0–1.2 million tonnes a year.
